Do Your Loved Ones In Spirit Contact You In Your Dreams?

When our loved ones in spirit want to contact us they may offer many signs of their presence. But as we all lead such busy lives we may be unaware of their efforts to reach out to us. So often they will contact us directly in our dreams.

You may have already have had a dream in which a loved one in spirit spoke to you. Do you recall the experience in great detail? Did it feel as if your loved one was actually there besides you? If so the chances are it was so much more than a dream.

Dreams such as this can occur at times when we are struggling with our grief at their loss, or if we are experiencing stress in our lives and wishing that they were still around to help and advise us. So in response to our great need loved ones may contact us directly. This is often referred to as “spontaneous afterlife communication”.

Dream visitations such as this are extremely common and if you question friends you will probably find many have had a similar experience.

There are several reasons why loved ones may contact us, such as: -

* It could be thet just want to reassure us that they are safe and well on the other side and don't want us to worry about them anymore.

* They are concerned about another family member (often a remaining spouse) and they would like us to pay special attention to this person's needs.

*They may also wish to pass a message to you. There could be something unsettled between you when they passed into spirit and they want to set the record straight.

So how do they break down the barrier to communication in our sleep?

It could be that when we sleep we are in an altered state of consciousness and this makes us more open to communication from other worlds.

As this state exists when we are daydreaming or meditating then we could also receive a visit at these times too.

So how can you tell the difference between a normal dream and a genuine visitation?

First of all it would feel nothing at all like a normal dream. It would be very real and once the dream had faded this feeling would remain long after you wake up.

In the dream you would be fully aware that your loved one is no longer alive. During normal dreams we often think the person is still alive, until we wake up.

Often in these kinds of dreams other family members in spirit will appear as well, as if to confirm to you that everyone is reunited and caring for each other.

At the end of the dream your loved one would probably touch or hug you.
During the time you spent together you may also visit places that would be familiar to both of you, such as your old family home.

Many people report a feeling of peace after such dreams knowing that their loved ones are always there for them and that they can still see them from time to time in their dreams.

Having had such a magical moment together it should make it easier to cope and carry on living your life to the full just as they would have wanted you to.

Seances

A serious meeting of people interested in psychic occurrences at which a psychic will try to bring through spiritual energies.

Séances usually involve from 3 to 10 people.

Usually the psychic who is leading the séance will slip into a trance or a conscious level where he or she is able to communicate with a spirit, guardian angel or other entity.

The psychic may communicate silently with this spiritual entity or use his or her body as a channel for information.

In the case of channelled information, often the psychic does not remember what's happened afterwards.

In some séances, those taking part will sit in a circle and hold hands, although this isn't necessary.  Most psychics who are involved in séances insist that those in attendance must take the same chair week after week.

There is often a prayer given or a period of meditation before the meeting begins and sometimes another such period at the end of the session. No one is allowed to leave the room during the séance because that would disrupt the spiritual communication.

Sometimes there is a religious lesson or knowledge that comes through from the spirit world, but this isn't always the case.

Meetings usually last from one to three hours and are held on a regular basis in a places where those in attendance feel comfortable.

Psychics say for good results it’s essential that there’s harmony between those who are sitters at the séance.

Some sitters are thought to be used much like batteries; their energy is used by the spirits called forth to the séance.

Psychics and sitters often report feeling the touch of an entity against their arms or cheeks.

For many this proves that the spirits are present in the room with those taking part. These are called séance hands. Other psychic phenomenon that may happen is ‘séance lights’-   small, glowing circles of light. These are said to be entities who wish to attend the séance. They are thought  to be guides are guardians of those in attendance; others may be disincarnate spirits.

During the mid 1800s to the early 1900s, spiritualism and the study of metaphysics were beginning to blossom.

But it was also a period plagued with frauds and schemes involving parapsychology. Often those who had recently lost a family member paid huge amounts to talk with their loved ones.

The “spiritualist” or “psychic” tricked the innocent out of money conning the unsuspecting with a host of  deceptions.

But as the process of holding séances evolved the frauds were gradually pushed out as the practice of holding hands became popular in order to keep the fraudulent psychic from performing any sleight-of-hand mischief. The psychic might also have his or her hand and legs tied to the chair to avoid the possibility of a hoax.

Today, the word séance has been replaced with phrases such as spiritual gathering, spiritual evening, circle of friends, etc.

What is Spiritualism?

The belief that spirits of the dead can communicate with the living.

Spiritualism is the belief that there is life after physical death and there is the possibility of speaking with the spirits who exist in the non-physical plane.

This communication can be on a personal level, often through meditation, or with the assistance of a psychic.

The information is channelled through the psychic or through other means such as clairvoyance or automatic writing.

The word spiritualist is an outdated name for a psychic, although it’s sometimes still used.

Spirit Guides - Who Are They?

A spirit guide is thought to be a highly evolved spiritual source of energy that is said to protect and inform, often providing foresight to those who know how to listen.

Guides, sometime known as guardian angels, are considered benevolent, protective sources of advice, knowledge, psychic information and love.

The term control is used for a spirit that is channelled from the spiritual plane through a psychic’s mind so he or she can advise a querant.

The Greeks, among other ancient civilizations, including many Native American tribes, believed that each person has an individual guardian angel, which could also appear in animal form.

Traditionally, American Indians regard the guide as a specific class of spirit that, once acquired through a vision or a dream, continues to help by providing specific powers, abilities – including – clairvoyance – and the knowledge of healing powers.

Although there is no scientific evidence of the existence of guides, psychics say that everyone has them and they are always ready to assist their own people. Spirit guides are said to have lived many times on the earth plane and are much more highly evolved than human beings. According to psychics although a guide is there to assist, it will never interfere in a human’s life without a specific request or invitation.

The guide can take on any form the psychic wishes to see. As an example, if the psychic expects to see the guide dressed as an Indian fakir, that is how the guide will appear.

Some psychics believe that we all have a number of guides, with one guide overseeing our entire life on this planet. The others, helping guides, are also there to help when there is a specific need, such as in healing or in a time of transformation.

To connect with your guide, it's best to find a quiet spot in which to clear your mind and meditate.

All you need do then is  to ask for the guide’s presence, and if you “know” by a feeling that you are no longer alone, the guide has responded to your request.

Many psychics communicate with their guides through tools such as the Tarot, the pendulum predictions, meditation on crystals or just by talking.

Guides can also be channelled through a psychic through a direct voice medium or by visions, smells, tastes or sounds.

Before a reading, most psychics call on their guides to provide a connection with the information available in the ethereal plane.

Guides are also referred to as archangels, spiritual guides, guardian angels, joy guides, doorkeepers, healers, teachers and protectors.

What Is Mediumship?

Many people often confuse mediumship with other types of  psychic abilities.

'Mediumship' is simply the ability to communicate with spirit and provide evidence of life after death. It is not a way to look into your future.

To channel communication from 'the other side' mediums usually work closely with their spirit guides and it is this that distinguishes them from psychics - though some offer both services.

Some work by seeing spirit (clairvoyance) whilst others sense, see, and hear ( known as clairsentient clairvoyance and clairaudient)

They may also go into a trance like state and assume the voice, or facial gestures of the spirit making contact.

Most well-known mediums claim to have had this gift since childhood and that they have always been able to see 'spirit' around them.

But a few say it began after a traumatic incident in their lives, i.e. an accident.

The famous 20th century Dutch medium, Peter Hurkos, credited with helping police solve 27 murders throughout Europe had a dramatic tale to tell of how he was suddenly able to communicate with spirit. In 1941 at the age of 30, he fell off a ladder in the Netherlands while painting a house and survived a four-storey plunge. He hit his head on the ground below and while recovering he found he was hearing and seeing spirit. The accident also sparked in him an uncanny ability to "read" a person by being in close proximity or touching an object associated with that person. Many unsolved police cases were helped by his ability to tune into the spirit world and some grieving parents of missing children had reason to be grateful to him.

But in 1956, he visited the United States under the sponsorship of a psychic research society and got caught up with the Hollywood set. Overnight,he became a celebrity, offering psychic readings to Hollywood stars and going onstage, and his wonderful gift was lost to those most in need.

Remember if you seek a spirit reading genuine mediums would never claim to be able to contact specific people. But they should be able to bring you messages from loved ones that you would immediately recognize

Also beware of the "doom and gloom" mediums who trot out unpleasant predictions. You should not leave a sitting feeling distressed, but rather uplifted and happy in the knowledge that your loved ones in spirit are at peace.

Doris Stokes - Did Her Messages Really Come From Spirit?

Doris Stokes was one of the UK’s best known and best loved mediums who did much to revive the popularity of spiritualism during the late 20th century.

But many doubted her psychic skills and some even claimed that she was a fraud!

Doris was born in 1920, in Grantham, Lincs, and claimed that her mediumistic skills became apparent when she was a young child, when she both heard and saw spirits.

She later became involved in spiritualism, joining a spiritualist church where she was encouraged to develop her talents and  this led to her being recognised as a practising clairaudient medium by the Spiritualists' National Union, in 1949.

In 1962, following a crisis of faith in her abilities she gave up her work as a medium and re-trained a psychiatric nurse, but had to retire five years later following an attack by a patient.

Yet Doris couldn't resist the call of the spirit world and eventually returned to her psychic work. In 1975, she became the resident medium at the Spiritualist Association of Great Britain and this appointment would prove a turning point for Doris as just two years later she would achieve world-wide fame...

What Is Psychic Surgery?

Psychic surgery is a controversial healing technique practiced in the Philippines and Brazil in which the psychic surgeon uses no instruments but yet claims to make incisions in the body.

The technique has been condemned by the medical establishment in many countries as "fraud" and "quackery".

Outraged cancer organisations have spoken out many times saying that it has caused needless death by keeping people away from convential medical treatment.

But those who support it say that that God opens the body without the use of surgical instruments.
