Ghosts Of The Living

Ghosts of the Living! Now that's a bit of a contradiction of terms. We are all familiar with the idea that a ghost is an apparition of a dead person but there are also many accounts of "ghosts of the living". How can that be?

It does seem that certain people, under certain conditions, not yet established, are indeed seen in one place when they are indisputably in another place altogether.

And this isn’t a modern phenomenon. There’s a classic case involving a French woman, Emilie Sagee, documented and examined by reputable investigators in the late nineteenth century.

As a young school teacher, she lost several positions because of her unconscious ability for being seen in two places at the same time. She would be seen by fellow teachers in the grounds of the school and then seconds afterwards teaching a class, where she had been for over an hour. Another time she was seen in the grounds from the window of the classroom where she was teaching; and on yet another occasion pupils were upset and frightened to see two Madame Sagees, side by side at the blackboard!!

She eventually gave up teaching because of all the controversy and was lost to paranormal investigation.

Peter Underwood, the world's leading Ghosthunter, and, Life President of The Ghost Club Society, has experienced it himself.

In one of his books he relates details of a similar occurrence. At the time of the incident he worked in publishing in London and was in the habit of popping out for a coffee most morning to a nearby coffee house. Naturally he became known to the proprietor, who would give him a nod as he walked to his usual seat and then bring him over a cup of black coffee. One morning Peter Underwood had a friend call for him at his office and together they walked to the coffee house. The proprietor of the establishment seemed confused when he walked in and asked him whether he hadn’t already been in that morning. He replied "No, of course not, Why?" The owner said that a little earlier he had seen him come in and go to his usual seat, and he had delivered a cup of coffee to the table a few minutes later as usual - but when he looked the seat was empty and he was nowhere to be seen!

The coffee shop owner said that the man had been wearing a different suit to the one that Peter Underwood was wearing that day but he was absolutely certain that it had been him. There was no way in or out of the establishment other than past the proprietor!

So remember, the next time you find yourself saying to a friend or family member that you are absolutely positive that you saw them in a particular place, at a particular time, but they were in fact miles away - you may well have done!
